Aisling Cliodhnadh Sullivan (born 16 March 1984), also known as Aisling bea, is an Irish comedian, writer and actress. Bea began her stand-up show in 2011after having appeared as a guest on a variety of Irish television shows and British series from 2009. The year 2012 saw her begin to appear regularly on sketch and sitcoms. In 2012, following her was awarded an award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards (ECA) and began to be featured frequently in panel shows. She's a member of 8 Out of 10 Cats since 2016 and she is an extremely popular contestant on its sister show 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Her parents were Brian O'Sullivan and Helen O'Sullivan. She has one younger sister, Sinead. In 2012 she was the first woman ever to be awarded the So You Think You Are Funny award. Her surname honors the memory of her late father. Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan was born in Kildare town County Kildare on 16 March 1984. Bea's father Brian who was an equine vet who committed suicide after Bea turned three, was an victim of self-harm. She was told about his suicide only after thirteen years of age. In 2017, Bea composed an essay for The Guardian about the suicide of her father's family. She also she adopted the stage name Bea to pay tribute. Bea was raised alongside her younger sister Sinead by Helen Moloney. Helen is a secondary instructor, trainer of jockeys, as well as a former professional racer. They were both passionate about racing, horses as well as the race industry. Bea spent her childhood as a Tour Guide for the Irish National Stud. From a very young age, Bea knew that she did not want to pursue a racing career. She was more interested in the performing arts.
